The Nine Dragons does something no standard yoyo can. Its outer shells spin independently from the inner body, meaning you can hold it mid-spin and keep playing. That single mechanic opens up an entire category of tricks that simply don't exist elsewhere: sliding grinds, body contact spins, horizontal moves that break every conventional rule.

For diabolo players, this will feel strangely familiar. The isolated shell behaves much like a bearing diabolo axle, the outer surface stays in contact with your hand while the core keeps spinning freely underneath.
