WHY WE'RE DOING THIS
Five years. Fifty countries. Thousands of diabolos in flight. We've never asked you to send us a photo of one. Today, we are.
IN FOCUS isn't a trick contest. It's a photo contest. Vol. 01 has one theme — MOTION — and we're looking for the frame: the trick at its sharpest second, the blur of a kick, the vertax mid-spin, the body throw caught between flight and catch.
Phone or camera. Beginner or world champion. The only rule is a Sundia in the frame.
VOL. 01 · THIS YEAR'S THEME
MOTION
One photo. One frame. The peak second of a trick — frozen, blurred, suspended, caught. The eye misses it; the camera doesn't.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
Frozen at peak.
The vertax mid-rotation. The diabolo airborne above a high toss. The exact frame between hand and string. The sun caught between cups. High-shutter, sharp, suspended.
OR SMEARED IN FLIGHT
Blurred in motion.
Slow shutter light trails. Hand blur on a fast kick. Long-exposure spin. Motion you can feel in the frame. The opposite of frozen — equally valid.
Coming in future volumes:
Vol. 02 — LIGHT. Sunset, silhouette, glow, long exposure.
Vol. 03 — PLACE. Somewhere unexpected. The world, with a diabolo in it.
If your best shot isn't motion, sit tight — your year is coming.
