The Mister Babache Finesse is the Swiss classic of European diabolo, and the
Sundia EVO is the model that replaced it in most serious players' bags. The
Finesse wins on modularity; the EVO wins on stability, weight and the quality
of its bearing options. At roughly equal prices, the EVO is the one we
recommend for anyone past their first week.

## The two companies

**Mister Babache** is a Swiss juggling manufacturer whose diabolos, the
Finesse, Harlequin and their smaller siblings, have been sold in Europe since
the 1990s. The Finesse is built around a hub that accepts interchangeable
"Evolution" centres: a finger-trick centre, an LED centre and a bearing
centre.

**Sundia** is Taiwanese and builds nothing but diabolos. It introduced the
ball-bearing diabolo in 2005 and the magnetic bearing axle in 2021. See

## What the differences mean in play

- **Correction.** The EVO's sharp stability ring means the string touches a
  single point when you fix a lean. On the Finesse the correction runs along
  the cup and takes longer. This is the quality that makes a diabolo feel
  "calm" in the hands.
- **Weight and size.** The Finesse is about 30 g heavier and almost a
  centimetre wider than the EVO. That reads as forgiving on the first day and
  as slow from the second month, when tricks get fast.
- **Bearings.** Babache's bearing is an add-on centre in a diabolo designed
  for a fixed axle. Sundia's bearing models are designed as such: hard cups
  that shield the bearings from drops, a triple or five-bearing axle, and the

- **Modularity.** This is the Finesse's real strength: one body, three
  centres. Sundia answers with separate cups, hubs, axles and LED kits that
  fit across the EVO, Magforce and Fly families, which in practice covers the
  same ground and adds two-diabolo narrow hubs.

The Finesse is a good diabolo with a smart centre system. The
